When did we decide to sever ourselves from the very earth that sustains us? (Hu)man vs. Nature. Even the most artificial objects, torn from the ground, are born of the earth, only to be reshaped and often discarded. The (Hu)man overculture asserts that we are separate from one another and the natural world, but we, too, are natural beings with ancestors who lived in harmony with nature.
These materials, once part of a whole, have been removed from their context, tied together with threaded patterns that reflect our harmonious relationship with the world around us—a relationship we have forgotten. The climate crisis is a global issue, one that we can solve through our ingenuity and compassion. Now that I see that everything is nature, it feels easier to take accountability and move forward through my grief to find balance between human needs and natural systems. It is in our (Hu)man nature to persevere, and we can live in harmony again, but only by looking forward and working together.
